Drinking Outside the Box

Drinking Outside the Box

4″ x  6″ x 10″   Drinking Outside the Box is an assemblage piece in my teapot series. It has been a little while since I’ve done any new teapot sculptures, mainly because I usually work around a special items that I’ll find, and I just hadn’t found any cool pots lately, until this one popped up.

The base is a wooden box from a set of children’s nesting boxes. I love the use of whimsical items and it’s a nice shape and solid form. It is wrapped in antique paper and topped with bits of tea papers.

The pouring tea is created from wire, ribbon, chain and beads, and includes a special charm.

Dark Brew

Dark Brew

8″  x  8″   Dark Brew is an assemblage in my teapot series of sculptures. Using found objects and combining them into something new, this altered art takes recycling to a new level. Upcycling old pieces found at thrift stores, I create objects that will illicit a smile or thought.

Dark Brew is created from an old candleholder, small teapot and china teacup. The tea is created from beads and wire.

What’s Inside

What's Inside

6″ x 12″  What’s Inside is an assemblage piece, showing that it’s what’s inside that counts. A faded silver plated single serve teapot pours into a battered antique tin cup. The tin cup was made in Sweden.  The “tea” is made of dress makers’ sequins and beads.
