Gallop through the depths

Gallop through the depths

11″  x  11″   Gallop through the depths is a simple sketch on antique paper. The map is from an old Rand McNally atlas and shows the Soviet Union. It was missing a dragon icon, warning of monsters in the deep, so I gave it one. Sea horses have always inspired me and making this a more fantastical sort with leg-like appendages felt right.

The photos are not the best, but the piece is framed and hung for Art Every Day month, day two – I started it yesterday, sketching in my car after work, and colored and framed it this morning.  By Heather Brush.

Naked in the Mist

Naked in the Mist

10″ x 13″  Naked in the Mist is a mixed media work. Multilayered, I began with oil pastel on paper, blended with linseed oil, then applied a coat of sealant. Pen and ink trees are representative of the view out my front windows. Over that is layer over antique angel hair, under glass. Posted for day 17 of Art Every Day Month. By Heather Brush. For sale at The Artisan Center Along the Crooked Road in Rocky Mount, Va. $45.00
